Ferrous Sulfate

Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO4), also known as iron(II) sulfate is a chemical compound that has many common uses. It dissolves in water, making it easy to combine with other chemicals. Medically, it can be used to treat deficiencies in iron and help treat anemia. In an industrial application, it can be used for the reduction of chromate in processing cement.

This chemical also works as a stain when applied to sandstone, limestone, and concrete, which will give the material a rusty yellow color. If the compound is applied as a stain to wood, it can give the wood a silvery sheen.

In plants, this chemical compound can treat chlorosis, a condition in which the plant does not produce enough chlorophyll. For this reason, it is sometimes used in lawn care. Because it can remove phosphorus, which may enter water due to fertilizer runoff, it can be used in water treatment. This chemical is versatile and useful for a variety of applications.
