Acetone (Avantor 9002-03, HPLC, 4 Lt Bottle)
Standard acetone for use in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) work, this variety of acetone is generally used as a solvent in the mobile phase of most HPLC processes. Packaged and stored in a glass bottle, this acetone specifically formulated for use in HPLC readings as an alternative to acetonitrile, which has been harder to acquire due to scarcity over the past few years. Acetone is not the preferred solvent for the mobile phase of HPLC, but it is often used in small molecule analysis due to its more readily available supply. The only drawback to using acetone in HPLC is that it generally creates a disturbance between 220nm-300nm, making UV detection difficult if not impossible during HPLC analysis. Acetone is a widely used organic compound that makes an excellent solvent for plastics and certain synthetic fiber textiles, and it requires special handling and storage protocols as it is both volatile at room temperature and extremely flammable.
