Barium Nitrate

Barium nitrate is a non-combustible white crystalline solid that accelerates the burning of other combustible materials. It is often used in pyrotechnics for those reasons. Barium nitrate is also used in the production of materials containing BaO.

Barium nitrate has a molecular weight of 261.335 g/mol and a heavy atom count of nine. It also has a hydrogen bond donor count of zero and a hydrogen bond acceptor count of six. The complexity of the compound is 18.8. Barium nitrate also has both a monoisotopicand exact mass of 261.881 g/mol.

It has a melting point of 1,098 °F (592.22 °C) and is soluble in 203 g/100 of water at 77 °F (25 °C). Barium nitrate is slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone but insoluble in alcohol. The compound is insoluble in sulfuric acid and ethanol. It has a density of 3.24 at 73.4 °F (23 °C).

Barium nitrate is commonly used in the vacuum tube industry. It is also used to make electronics, ceramic glazes, and rodent chemicals.
