The chemical butanediol (BD) is used to manufacture solvent products, like paint thinner and floor stripper. Selling this chemical for medicinal purposes is illegal, however it is occasionally used as a replacement for other illegal chemicals, like GHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate) and GBL (gamma butyrolactone). The human body converts BD into GHB. GHB makes the brain function slower, which sometimes results in fainting, as well as breathing problems and other serious conditions. It stimulates the secretion of growth hormones too.
BD is not safe. It can lead to severe illnesses and death. Other side effects that this chemical produces include memory loss, coma, confusion, aggressiveness, sickness, agitation, extremely slow heartbeat and seizures. Those who use this chemical regularly then stop, might encounter withdrawal symptoms like tremors, anxiety and insomnia. Amphetamines are drugs which can boost the speed of the nervous system. Consuming BD with amphetamines can produce even more severe side effects.
