Glycol Ether PM
This chemical is part of the family of glycol ethers. It is derived from propylene oxide, which is why it has a PM in the name. This substance is a clear, colorless liquid. It produces a slight ether aroma. When compared to other glycol ethers, this chemical is the one that evaporates the fastest. It is also highly soluble in water.
As with most glycol ethers, this substance works well as a solvent. It is commonly found in cleaning agents; however, it can also be used to create inks for printing. Some pens may utilize glycol ether PM inside their inks as well. Another application of this chemical can be agricultural herbicides.
Since it evaporates so quickly, it must be stored in an airtight container, away from any combustible materials. Inhalation of the vapor can cause dizziness and drowsiness, so breathing masks should be worn. It is highly flammable and can cause mild irritation to the skin and eyes.
