A synthetic isoparaffinic hydrocarbon solvent produced from raw petroleum-based minerals, Isopar™ is created by treating petroleum-based raw materials with hydrogen and a catalyst in or to produce the low level of aromatic hydrocarbons to the point that Isopar™ is essentially colorless and odorless. It’s primary use is as a liquid solvent in paints and coatings, consumer products, printing inks, and chemical applications for agriculture. It is not available for general consumer use, but it may be an ingredient in many consumer and commercial applications such as paints, cleaning agents, and other functional fluids in consumer products. Isopar™ is highly combustible and has a relatively high vapor pressure, so adequate ventilation is essential, as is use in areas that are free from ignition sources. It has very low acute and chronic toxicity, though vapor concentrations or aerosolization above 171 ppm can cause eye and lung irritation, as well as headaches, dizziness, or drowsiness.
