Isopropyl Alcohol USP/ACS/NF
For isopropyl alcohol to be considered USP/NF grade, it has to be in a 99% pure solution. Other forms of this alcohol are usually around 70% and mixed with water. Another term for this substance is isopropanol. It is a clear, colorless liquid that produces a strong ethanol odor and it is highly flammable.
Isopropanol can be found in many different applications, including degreasers, cleaners, and other solvents. Since it evaporates more quickly than other alcohol-based solutions, it’s regarded as a better alternative. It is also less toxic than most other cleaning agents. Due to the purity of this kind of isopropyl alcohol, it should be diluted beforehand.
Since it evaporates so fast, this chemical must be stored in a cool, dry area in an airtight container. It should also not be stored along with combustible materials. It can create mild irritation on the skin and eyes, and inhalation of the vapors can cause dizziness.
